Conan the Board Game!

Hail to you all! I'm back to blogging (for now, anyway) and I had to bring to everyone's attention the upcoming release of the Age of Conan Boardgame (Not to be confused with the Age of Conan video game, more on that later). This board game is set for release this Summer, but who knows if it will hit store shelves on schedule?

Here's the box art...

After reading baout it, it looks a lot like the old school game Risk but set in the Hyborean world. I was hoping it would have been more along the lines of some classic board games like Heroquest, but oh well.

Here's what Boardgamegeek.com has to say about it along with some more pictures...

"The larger new game in 2007 will be Age of Conan – The Strategy Board Game, based on the adventures of Conan the Barbarian, the archetypical fantasy hero created by the Texan writer Robert E. Howard. Developed under license of Paradox Entertainment / Conan Properties, Age of Conan it's going to be a massive board game where two or more players will lead the nations of the "Hyborian Age", the fantasy world created by Robert E. Howard, employing weapons, wealth or magic to achieve hegemony over the others. Developed by the same design team of the best-seller War of the Ring (Francesco Nepitello, Marco Maggi and Roberto Di Meglio), Age of Conan is planned to be released in 2008 and will feature hundreds of beautiful plastic miniatures, a large full colour map of Hyboria, and top-level components."

So, though nobody gets to play Conan himself, it still looks like the makings for a fun night, warring your Aquilonian troops against the high-priests of Stygia!

Now, let's talk real quick about the Age of Conan video game. I'm so excited about this game that I'm about to go insane! This is going to be so much fun. All the graphics looks sweet and the online gaming ability should make it a fun way to split my friends' skulls open.

But I guess the designers weren't sure that enough lonely nerds were going to buy the game so they designed and released a sneak peak of on of the main hottie characters, named Keaira, totally topless. I had to "edit" them a little or Myspace will get angry at me, but you get the point, and if you don't know what's under those little black squares then you have far greater problems than video game release dates.

And speaking of the video game, they must be promoting the hell out of this thing, because all kinds of promotional stuff is popping up on ebay, lately. Like this so-badass-I-can't-believe-it T-shirt that I would kill a bus-load of nuns for...

That's it for now, my friends! I'll try and get another post in soon. I'm still planning on a whole week devoted to the Conan the Adventurer cartoon.

But that is another story...
