Over at Topless Robot, they have compiled a list of the 8 Dumbest Barbarian Heroes and I have to agree that it's pretty spot on. As Conan fans, we know all too well, that there are some horrible rip-off movies out there and in our quest to find awesome barbaric entertainment, we've all sat through some serious stinkers. And I hate to break it to you, but even Conan makes the list! But you have to check it out to see why. Click yourself silly to view Page 1, or Page 2.

Hahaha! Conan Fan Art Week Will Be Postponed Until Next Week!
I've had far too much Turanian ale or something because I came up with this great idea for a Fan Art Week here on the Conan blog, and then my wife reminded me that we were actually going out of town this week. Haw! I'm such an idiot.
So, Conan Fan Art Week will start after I get back home next week! It's looking like it'll run Tuesday through Saturday. Or something. Hell, I don't know.
So, sorry for getting all four of my readers excited. To make it up to you, here's an awesome vintage Red Sonja piece from Kull and the Barbarians #2 (May, 1975) from our good friend and resident comic book expert, The Groovy Agent of the ever popular and always awesome Diversions of a Groovy Kind blog! Click the link to read the full story!

Original Conan the Adventurer Action Figure Production Proof Card Backs!
Here's a sweet production proof card back from the Conan the Adventurer line of action figures, based on the 90's animated series. A production proof is what they have to run by the big wigs at a toy company before everything goes to print. This is a one of a kind piece! This particular card was for Wrath Amon (the watered down villain of the series) who's the green dude on the right in the final pic. Another nice addition to these pieces is what appears to be the original inked drawing of the Wrath Amon character which was used in the toy packaging. Sweet!

Custom Conan Statue!
Here's another internet find (umm... but I can't remember exactly where I found it... sorry!) of a custom hand-sculpted Conan statue! Based on the popular Ernie Chan pin up piece of Conan having been crucified on a wooden cross and being eyed hungrily by a filthy pack of vultures.
Check it out...

Conan Comics from Spain are Yours to Download for Free!
This is a big one, fellow Conan fans! A CROM! reader that goes simply by the name Cromsblood sent me an e-mail the other day explaining how he has spent the last 6 months or so translating a series of Spanish comic books he found on a now-defunct website which feature our favorite Cimmerian. The comics were called "Sword!" and showcased stories and artwork never before seen in America!
Here's a little background information sent to me by Cromsblood...
Here's a little background information sent to me by Cromsblood...
Here are some of the new covers, which I believe are completely new redesigns by Cromsblood..."Sword Studio is a comic book studio run by Carlos Yañez. Carlos Yañez is the editor of a spanish magazine called Sword."Bloody ice" was done in 1999 for the Spanish Conan editor, Editorial Planeta, because Editorial Planeta (under contract with Marvel Italia/Panini Comics) began a project named "Conan made in Spain" to publish new Conan comics made by Spanish artists. This project was cancelled due to economic problems, and "Bloody Ice", and a lot of other Spanish Conan adventures (like "The Treasure of Akem-Lizar", a 55 pages Conan adventurer) can not be published in Spain or in other countries. "
Now for the good part! Not only is Cromsblood sharing this information with everyone (hell, I'm just thrilled to even hear of this comic book!), Cromsblood has been kind enough to post every issue online for free!
They are all hosted by Rapidshare and can be downloaded individually as .cbr files, which you will need a comic book reader program in order to read these. I prefer Comical, it's also free and small and easier than a Zamoran trollop to use.
Click the links below to download the books! And once again, much heart-felt thanks to Cromsblood for doing this! You have truly added something big to all of Conan fandom!

Conan/Terminator T-shirt Welcomes You to California!
Mitra's beard! How effin' crazy is this shirt?! This looks more like something that should be painted on the side of a van owned by the worst drummer in the world, who still lives with his parents.
Seriously, I can't begin to express the level of absurdity that radiates from this t-shirt like magic from Thulsa Doom's butt. The whole Conan/Terminator amalgamation is stupid enough, but hell, they might as well have added in Arnold's characters from Predator, Commando, Twins and Jingle All the Way while they were at it. Nice gold sword, too. Did he melt down C-3PO and then hammer him into a barbarian weapon?

Oh! Good news! It also comes in white!
If you have just smoked a bunch of meth and are now in the mental state necessary to actually buy this shirt, you can get it HERE.

Weird Conan Model Kit!
This thing is just plain freaky! I stumbled across it on eBay and the seller claimed this was from Poland or something. Poland? Why Poland? They claim it's meant to be Conan and I believe them. I mean, take a look at those swords and that face is clearly designed to look like Arnold.
Anyway, it looks like the Conan version of those big-headed monster model they used to sell back in the 60's. Of course, I can talk all the smack I want but you all know damn well that I desperately want it!

The Thing in the Crypt!
Hard Hero (giggle!) has added another statue to their Conan collection with this wicked "Thing in the Crypt" statue. For a dead dude, that guy's got a hell of a six pack.

Conan on Vinyl!
Special thanks to Diversions of a Groovy Kind, who links us all to another blog called The Bronze Age of Blogs, who hosted a couple of links to some very rare recordings of the Conan stories, The Tower Of The Elephant and The Frost Giant's Daughter complete with a full cast and all kinds of crazy sound effects and stuff!

More Conan the Adventuerer Animation Cells!
Crom! They can't give these away on eBay. Right now there are a ton of them posted for sale, but nobody is buying them. I admit, though, I've been tempted to order a couple, just for run. I didn't exactly love the cartoon (but I liked it enough to watch pretty much every episode!), but it's part of Conan lore now, so maybe I should have a couple in the collection.

Hard Hero Conan Poster!
I'm sorry, but I'm just having a difficult time typing "Hard Hero" and not giggling. Anyway, I was on vacation last week and anytime I go someplace, I try to find a local comic shop. I came across Comic Zone in Scottsdale Arizona, which is a brand new shop, super clean and organized and staffed by some really nice people. I picked up a few comics and magazines, but what I wanted to show off here is this sweet free poster from Hard Hero (tee-hee!) showcasing their awesome Conan statues!
It's a nice little addition to the collection! I'll have to make due with the poster because I sure as hell can afford the statues!
