  1. Now...I don't mean to cheap out with the post here...but I am still digesting this and really have nothing to say yet. I will say I am a bit apprehensive...Arnold is old and out of shape. Is this gonna be a CGI deal ala BEOWULF? That would work using his likeness but as far as action and fighting goes...I think the old boy's lost a step or two....oh well...only time will tell.

  4. I talked a bit about this at my blog when it was still just a rumor. My take was that Arnold could do it as long as it's made clear that he's playing an older Conan and people don't expect him to do the movie shirtless. The guy is 65, so probably best to have him in a tunic or mail or something. Judicious use of camera angles and stunt doubles should do the rest. A good director could pull it off.

  5. Don't get me wrong I am righteously excited with him getting involved.
It can definately be done and succeed. But are we going too see big budget treatment or Syfy channel grade horse hockie? If they do it...it gotta be done right...this should be... Arnolds Oscar bidding role!

  7. I think it's real...due to the fact that it's been reported by several media outlets. Plus Arnold loves Conan. He'd jump at the chance to reignite his acting career...a CONAN film would be a 80 mil in one weekend movie

  9. I wonder if Universal has a secret stash of unused footage from their 80's efforts that they plan on using in this movie (for flashbacks or whatnot). No point to make, just me wondering.

  10. I'd be excited if this were Milius' CROWN OF IRON project. As it is.... I have doubts.

  12. Heard about the Legend of Conan last week. I love Arnold, but I dont think he's right for Conan any more. After the Jason Momoa catastrophy, I decided to write my own script. (Not a Scorpion King Reject Script that purchased rights to call it Conan) Its a script true to R.E. Howard. I based it on the stories, Beyond the Black River, Man in the Iron Tower, Treasure of Tranicos, and Conan the Liberator, the story of how he became king. Anyone have any suggestions on where I may generate interest on it?

  13. @Michael Val,

Unfortunately, generating interest with the Conan fanbase, Arnold fanbase, Howard scholars, or even endorsement from REH himself won't get you any attention from Hollywood, nor do they seem to have any desire in making a movie that's true to REH.

If you want to see that script realized, you probably either need friends with connections, a multi-millionare buddy who wants to produce it, or be really proficient on the casting couch (if such a thing ever really happens with writers).

That said, studio execs, the director, and a whole host of others involved in the project will surely turn it into something entirely different than what it started out as.

Sorry to sound so pessimistic, but from what I've read and seen, that's just how Hollywood roles.

  14. This movie will be made by Fredrik Malmberg who made Conan 2011 and Chris Morgan who produced the fast and furious series. So this will not be faithful to R. Howard's Conan legacy or Milius's 1982 movie, this will not be a good movie, Arnold or not.

This is for a wide audience, not hardcore fans.
