Conan: Red Nails

A few of you have sent me comments and/or messages in regards to the much anticipated release of the animated Conan: Red Nails movie. Alas, I have very little information to offer. I know that it has started and stopped production several times and the last word I've heard is that it is currently still in production despite IMBD's projected release date of January 2008.

For those of you interested, Conan is being voiced by Ron Pearlman of Hellboy fame and includes the voices of Mark Hammill (Luke Skywalker) and James Marsden (Cyclops from X-Men). According to the rumors this will be a straight to DVD release with two versions, both a PG-13 and an R rated version. (Although straight to DVD releases don't actually require ratings, so your guess is as good as mine.)

Word on the Conan forum is mostly a lot of grumbling about how long this movie is taking to get out and haw little news anyone is getting from the production company. There's a nasty rumor going around about the movie actually being finished but being held up by Warner Bros. (the movie's distribution company) over their reluctance to release an animated movie that contains so much violence and blood. Hmmm... that sounds exactly like what a Conan movie should be!
