Hail to all!
So, as usual, I was trolling around Ebay and found a whole bunch of Conan things worthy of note, so naturally, I have to bring them all here to you guys. Check them out...
First off, we have a series of photo stills rom the frst conan movie. The first one looks like it's from Germany or someplace like that, due to the title of "Conan Der Barbar". The second one is a SIGNED portrait of James Earl Jones as Thulsa Doom, complete with pet snake. That dude sure did love his snakes. And the last one appears to be a shot of Arnold with who I believe is director, John Milius. I could be wrong, though. It could be the guy who runs the sandwich cart.
And since we're on the subject of publicity stills, let's give a shout out to poor old Ralf Moeller who starred in one of the worst TV shows in the history of broadcasting. Still, looking at this picture, with it's dramatic lighting and lack of giant plastic stage sword, it looks like the show would be great... but it wasn't.
And I'll end our publicity stills section with these (ahem) lovely shots from the Universal Studios Conan Sword and Sorcery Spectacular which starred a bunch of unknown muscle dudes and scantily clad red-headed chicks dancing around a stage with a giant animatronic snake. And then after the show you could all go get a sno-cone.
Oh, wait, I lied. Here are some more publicity stills from the first movie. I'd love to have these and I just wish the seller had taken better shots of them.
I'll finish off today's blog with these seriously awesome bootleg Conan rings from Argentina. These were listed as "cereal rings" which leads one to assume that they came in boxes of cereal. Can you imagine that? There you are, pouring a bowl of Apple Jacks and out comes a ring with a 250 lb. snarling barbarian on it? That would seriously screw up your morning. Or make it the greatest day ever. Either one.
These pics are wicked blurry, but you can totally tell that there's a little Conan in each one. Except maybe that first one, which looks suspiciously like either Kull or perhaps even John Carter of Edgar Rice Burroughs fame. Here's a couple more...
That's it for today, and I have some more cool stuff that I'll post tomorrow in Part II of Conan Conquers Ebay! Stay tuned, by CROM!!!
